These awards recognise excellence, leadership, and outstanding contributions to the science, engineering, and application of anaerobic digestion, as well as active engagement with the community and efforts to address global challenges such as resource recovery, circular economy, and sustainable waste management.

Awardees
Awardees will be announced at the 19th IWA World Conference on Anaerobic Digestion in València (Spain).
This award recognises early-career professionals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and strong potential for leadership in anaerobic digestion.
Eligibility criteria:
- Within 5 years of a PhD or the highest awarded degree (excluding documented career breaks).
- Proven contributions to the development or application of anaerobic processes.
- Scientific excellence and/or impact across academia, industry, utilities, or policy.
- Active engagement within the IWA or anaerobic digestion community.
- Clear leadership potential and commitment to advancing the field.
- Engagement with stakeholders beyond academia (e.g. industry, public sector, NGOs, communities).
This award recognises sustained and impactful contributions by mid-career professionals in anaerobic digestion and related resource recovery technologies.
Eligibility criteria:
- Within 15 years of a PhD or the highest awarded degree (excluding documented career breaks).
- Proven record of original, innovative, and high-impact contributions.
- Work addressing key challenges (e.g. waste management, renewable energy, circular economy, resource recovery).
- Active involvement in IWA and demonstrated leadership within the community.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting the next generation of professionals.
- Engagement with stakeholders across sectors (industry, government, NGOs, communities).
